Loveless on Valentine’s Day “DON’T” Tips

Tip #1

* Do not let envy enter your heart and mind. According to Merriam-Webster, envy is a “painful or resentful awareness of an advantage enjoyed by another joined with a desire to possess the same advantage.”

If not checked, it can lead to anger, hostility, irritability, and resentment. Envy can also lead to anxiety, depression, prejudice, and unhappiness. Hence, envy is often a theme in soap operas where the villain usually starts with envy of what the hero or protagonist has and ends with doing so many harmful things to the protagonist.

For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice. James 3:16
Therefore, rid yourselves of all malice and all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and slander of every kind. 1 Peter 2:1

Tip #2

* Don’t ever think you are not worthy of love because you are. Just as you are worthy of life, you are worthy of love.

While man is a sinner and unworthy, God showed His great love for him through Christ. If you feel undeserving of love, let the cross change you to become worthy. The cross will change everything for you, for it changes man’s unworthiness to worthiness.

But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. Romans 5:8

Tip #3

* Don’t be pressured and rush into a relationship. If you believe there’s one out there for you, continue praying in faith. Remember that God has not forgotten you. God has a plan for you which He will do in His purpose and time. Wait happily for His choice for you and His perfect timing. Your partner will come in God’s time. Many “rushed” relationships have had unhappy endings.

For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. Jeremiah 29:11

Loveless on Valentine’s Day “DO” Tips

Tip #4

* Be happy for others who are in blissful relationships. You want to find your “the one,” so be glad for those who have found theirs.

When others are happy, be happy with them. If they are sad, share their sorrow. Romans 12:15 NLT

Tip #5

* Pray for those who aren’t in happy relationships. You might be thankful that you are not in their position, but you can do something for them. Remember, if you were in their shoes, you would wish for help like prayers. Praying for them will be a form of kindness, a kind of antithesis for envy and arrogance.

Don’t rejoice when your enemies fall;
don’t be happy when they stumble. Proverbs 24:17

Tip #6

* Be happy being single. Think of the benefits of being single. Many singles feel blessed, so be among those who enjoy being single. Let not others add you to a list of unhappy singles.

The woman who has never been married can spend her time working for the Lord. She wants to please the Lord with her body and spirit. 1 Corinthians 7:34

Loveless on Valentine’s Day Important Tips

Tip #7

* Give love to others. If you think you have so much love to give, there are many people out there waiting to receive love–family, friends, elderly, poor, widows, orphans, marginalized, etc.  When you do, you will receive back what you give–love.

I know that there is nothing better for people than to be happy and to do good while they live. Ecclesiastes 3:12 NIV

Tip #8

* Be virtuous and capable.

Who can find a virtuous and capable wife? She is more precious than rubies.
Her husband can trust her, and she will greatly enrich his life.
She ...
brings him good, not harm, all the days of her life.
finds wool and flax and busily spins it.
is like a merchant’s ship, bringing her food from afar.
gets up before dawn to prepare breakfast for her household
and plan the day’s work for her servant girls.
goes to inspect a field and buys it; with her earnings she plants a vineyard.
is energetic and strong, a hard worker.
makes sure her dealings are profitable; her lamp burns late into the night.
Her hands are busy spinning thread ....
She ...
extends a helping hand to the poor and opens her arms to the needy.
has no fear of winter for her household, for everyone has warm clothes.
makes her own bedspreads. She dresses in fine linen and purple gowns.
Her husband is well known at the city gates, where he sits with the other civic leaders.
She makes belted linen garments and sashes to sell to the merchants.
She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future.
When she speaks, her words are wise, and she gives instructions with kindness.
She carefully watches everything in her household and suffers nothing from laziness.
Her children stand and bless her. Her husband praises her:
“There are many virtuous and capable women in the world, but you surpass them all!”
Charm is deceptive, and beauty does not last; but a woman who fears the LORD will be greatly praised.
Reward her for all she has done. Let her deeds publicly declare her praise.
Proverbs 31:10-31

Tip #9

* Honor God with your body by laying aside your sexual desires. Do not let yourself fall into temptation with someone you barely know and love outside of marriage. Commit to honor God and renew your mind to avoid temptations.

Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Romans 12:1

If you have already fallen, repent, receive God’s forgiveness, and turn away from sin.

Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you[a] free from the law of sin and death. Romans 8:1-2

Tip #10

* Let God meet your needs, surrender to Him your emotional baggage, and focus on fulfilling your God-given dreams. Many broken relationships are born out of unmet needs, unsettled emotional baggage, and unfulfilled dreams.

Plenty had thought finding a partner would meet their needs and fulfill their dreams but found out they were mistaken.

And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19 ESV

Tip #11

* Know that if you have surrendered yourself to Christ and accepted Him as your Lord and Savior, then you are complete in Him.

So you also are complete through your union with Christ, who is the head over every ruler and authority. Colossians 2:10 NLT
Whom have I in heaven but you? I desire you more than anything on earth. Psalm 73:25 NLT

Loveless on Valentine’s Day Final Tip

Tip #12

* When you are happy being single and complete in Christ, MINGLE with those of the same faith. Who knows if the one God has for you is already there?

Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you your heart’s desires. Psalm 37:4
Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness? 2 Corinthians 6:14
